PRACTICE & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ana is a trainee patent attorney specializing in the fields of biotechnology and translational neuroscience. She holds a PhD in Medical Neuroscience from Universitätsmedizin Berlin at Charité, Germany, as well as a Master’s degree in Applied Biology from the University of Minho.

Previously, Ana worked as a researcher at Charité University Medicine Berlin in Germany, where she focused on studying the role and electrocorticographic signature of cortical spreading depolarizations (CSD). Later, she joined the Neuro-Electronics Research Flanders (NERF) in Belgium. This research center is affiliated with imec, KU Leuven, and VIB. She held the position of project coordinator for research consortia, preliminary market assessment, and business analysis, working in partnership with local technology transfer offices.

In 2023, she joined the Biotech-Biology team at ICOSA EUROPE, where she supports Belgian and foreign companies, primarily in patent acquisition procedures before the Belgian Office for Intellectual Property (OPRI) and the European Patent Office (EPO).
