PRACTICE & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sophia Belkehlfa is a trainee patent attorney specialized in the field of biotechnologies, molecular biology, and biological engineering.

Sophia earned her Ph.D. in Evolution and Biological Engineering from the University of Paris Saclay, after completing a specialized Master’s 2 degree in Synthetic and Systems Biology at the University of Evry, as well as a Professional License in Biotechnology at the University of Versailles and a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University Paris Descartes.

She began her career as a postdoctoral researcher at INRA, participating in the European project CHASSY, where she developed a pathway for lipid remobilization as a carbon and energy storage. Before that, she worked as a Research Engineer at CEA, where she also conducted her thesis in evolutionary biology and biological engineering.

More recently, Sophia served as a Patent Examiner at INPI, focusing on medical devices and biotechnology. She joined the biotech department of ICOSA in 2022.

Sophia supports French and foreign startups, primarily in patent acquisition procedures before INPI and the EPO.
